Tips and Tricks for Writing the Perfect Birth Announcements

Congratulations! Your little one has arrived and it is time to let your loved ones know there’s a new person to love in the family! We’re sure you aren’t the only ones ooh’ing and ahh’ing over your newborn’s details, so we’ve curated a list on how to write the perfect birth announcements.

Birth Announcement Essentials

There are a few things that each announcement should always include. These are typically the general questions you would ask a new parent! How much did the baby weigh? What is the baby’s name? Things of the sort. You also want to include a message or quote that captures the true excitement your little one adds to your life. Below is a checklist of what your birth announcements should include.

Baby’s Full Name

This may seem silly to have to remind you to put your newborn’s name on the birth announcements, however, we want to ensure that you include the baby’s full name instead of a nickname or first name to ensure a formal introduction! Don’t forget their middle name if they have one!

Baby’s Birth Date

You may understand the impact this date had on your life, and you should let everyone else know that special day as well! Also, if you want friends and family to know when to plan for birthday parties and gifts, you’ll definitely want to add your newborns birthday to your announcements! Adding the exact time your baby was born is optional, however, it can add a special touch to the announcements when you state the specific time on that wonderful day.

Baby’s Size

Length and Weight are two little details that your loved ones enjoy learning. Your newborn is special to all, and stating their size adds a unique feature to your announcements! This part is optional, but normally seen on announcements. Let everyone know how big your bundle of joy turned out to be!

Introduction

When writing your birth announcements, one typically writes a short sentence or uses a quote to introduce their little one and leave everyone smiling. Here is where you could introduce the parent’s names and this is also a great place to allude to the baby’s gender if their name is not gender specific! Below I’ve gathered a few of our favorites for examples and ideas!

Photos

Don’t forget to add your little ones newborn photos! Whether you get your photos done while at the hospital, get a session done with a professional photographer (such as Keep It Captured Photography) or just some iPhone photos in good lighting, adding a photo of your bundle of joy can spark a lasting memory! Getting your newborn photos done is an incredible way to make those moments of your tiny one last a lifetime.

There are so many different ways you can make your birth announcements special and unique. Be sure to include different aspects that fit your newborn’s personality as well as the family’s! If your newborn was born around a holiday, maybe think of some clever puns and quotes that correspond with that nearby holiday to spread just a little more joy!
